childbirth class #4
We had our class again last night. This was our hospital tour so I was very excited about it. I am for the most part really impressed with the hospital that I am going to deliver at. I had two choices of hospitals that my doctor would be willing to deliver out of but they STRONGLY recommend the one I have been taking the classes at. It is right across the street from my OB's office so they pretty much exclusively work out of this hospital. Winter Park Memorial hospital. In the beginning of the tour we went up to the labor and delivery floor the back way so I was all turned around and they took us into the labor and delivery room which I was under the impression would be the room I would stay in through my whole stay. The room was not bad, but I was not incredibly impressed. It was basically just a plain room with a bed that did all sorts of crazy things and then there was only one chair for someone to sit in and a bunch of machines. So I was starting to think....ok we may be going to check out the other hospital. I mean it wasn't bad, just a normal hospital looking room and I was expecting for it to be nicer. THEN...we went to the postpartum part of the floor. So the answer was no you do not stay in the same room the whole time you are there, you stay in the labor and delivery room only until about an hour after you deliver and then you will move into your postpartum room. MUCH BETTER!!! These rooms are HUGE and wood paneled with flat screen TV's, a really cool huge chair that turns into a bed for ben, a desk, with wireless internet connection, a DVD player, A gigantic private bathroom. I liked this room a lot, as far as hospital rooms go...it was really nice. Hopefully I won't be in the hospital too long, for a completely normal delievery they usually say 2 days and for c-sections 4 days. But the hospital is nice and it's smaller than the other hospital I could go to which I like. Next week is our last childbirth class and then we will be done. Next week is all about learning about baby though, so I am done learning about labor and delivery and all that. YAY!

Well, young lady! That room sounds like it is bigger than the camper that I LIVE in all week long! I would think that the Molt family will be quite comfortable in such luxurious accommodations!!
Don't be in too big of a hurry to leave the hospital. One of the issues you have to take care of (while you have the nurses there) is breast feeding. It's not always as easy and natural as you might think. They have nurses who specialize in helping with that. Aaron had such trouble with it that he was back in the hospital after about 5 days because he got dehydrated. Wish we had stayed until he figured it out. Just a thought.
David
You "sound' better today!!
Sorry you were haveing such a bad time a few days ago. You have a lot going on right now.
Sounds like the hospital is going to be fine.
Was it a little weird getting breast feeding information from David?!! He was right about Aaron and it was a scary time.
Not long now!
Love, Mamaw
LOL.. funny thought Mamaw.. It is weird that Grogan is the breast-feeding expert..
Who knew..
I love it that you have all these uncles giving you this good advice on childbirth!!!
Listen to them. They know what they are talking about.
