Friday the 13th
Weird things can happen on friday the 13th. Sorry about my less than cheerful post yesterday. I was worn out and frustrated. Thanks for those that gave advice though I really do appreciate it! Today I decided to have a new attitude ..."control the controllables" as my brother says...actually I found out John Lennon was the one who said it but still a good mantra. So today when I put aiden down for his nap I decided to clean up the kitchen and use my new swiffer mop to mop the floor. Once the kitchen was done I felt so proud of myself I decided I would clean aiden's bathroom. Then that looked so great I decided to go clean ours and then the half bath then to do all the floors in the house. I am so proud!! For those who don't know me....I never clean. Yes never is a fair statement. I hate cleaning, I am bad at cleaning, I have never tried to be good at cleaning thus our apartment was always in a "semi picked up" state. When we lived with mamaw there was a maid that came once a week so that was nice but now we have our own house and for some reason I have a feeling that I need to keep it clean. That it's my job to make it nice. I am so proud cause I was honestly wondering if this domestic mother wife thing would ever kick in for me. It's one of those things that when you're younger you always think....oh when I'm older and married and have kids I'll do this....and then BAM! Here I am with a husband and a kid and the domestic stuff still not kicking in! So I hope that this is not just a one time friday the 13th thing and that I will continue to make the effort. Cause right now I feel so accomplished, my house looks and smells awesome! Now a couple things I learned during my cleaning. 1) don't wear black when cleaning with bleach...not sure how but I ruined my shirt 2) same thing for any washcloths you are goin to use in cleaning...need to be white! 3) If you clean really hard, you work up quite the sweat and it could be a good little work out. 4) some things need to soak/sit and you should take this time to clean something else 5) carry the trash bag with you as you go, it makes it easier! 6) when using a lot of bleach it will burn your eyes and throat and you might need to walk away. That's all for my cleaning tips. I hope everyone is having a wonderful day and looking forward to a LOVE filled weekend!

Okay, this made me laugh uncontrolably. I love you, but I have to totally agree with everything that you said about you cleaning. ( I know this from personal experiance, I was there for the move out of the apartment and for the birth of Aiden) I love that you feel that sense of accomplishment. That is a start. You are doing great with the whole domestic thing, you just have to have the right attitude. I am proud that you are learning the whole multi-task thing while cleaning, it make sense when you think about it. Here are a couple more hints:
1) Always work top to bottom ( keeps you from having to redo alot of things)
2) turn the TV off and turn some of your favoite music on, you won't stop to watch the tv and will keep moving.
3) put all your cleaning supplies in a bucket and carry them from room to room with you,
4) keep a good attitude about it, and don't let it get too bad before you decide to clean it and it will get quicker each time and not be such a "chore" the next time (especially those bathrooms)
I love you and am VERY proud of you
Good job Jen! I HATE to clean, too!!! But, March has a Friday the 13th in it, too. So if you wait till the next Friday the 13th, you're only waiting 1 month or just 4 weeks. Any way you want to look at it. I didn't have a chance to post on your last post about Aiden, and can't right now, but will later. You are doing just fine and we've all been there!
I am so like you. I leave my room a mess and my bed unmade. I make it every special day. And my room is cleaned about every 50 days. But when I go to other people's houses I am so organized.
You were productive today!!
I meant to comment on your last post and forgot. I agree with the other two people who replied though...diversions are the best. It sounds like you have a strong willed child...we are experiencing that with Brayden!! It is a learning experience and you just have to go with it. I often put Brayden in her crib for a minute after she does something I have told her not too. She may not quite understand what is going on, but it at least gives me a minute to cool off!! And all of this will get better...with time...and as he starts to talk. Hope things start to get better!!!
Jenni, if you are close enough for the bleach to burn your eyes, you are TOO close! Gonna burn your lungs - be careful!
Ever notice all the bleach stains going up Mamaw's stairs? Just drip after drip of bleach that her old maid used to drop when carrying the bucket of bleach water up the stairs.. Funny.
Yeah for you. I wanted you to bring Aiden to my Valentine party but it sounds like you were more productive at home.
Now you have a nice clean house for Valentines.
Light some candles and enjoy lounging on your new couch in a clean house.
Hydrogen Peroxide in a squirt bottle That is my cleaning tip!
