Mayfest 2013

Last sunday we met up with Jarod, Beth & molly for some fun in the sun festival time at Mayfest. A large outdoor carnival/ fair type event that they host in fort worth every may. It's a big deal in the city of fort worth but I am not sure I had ever attended before this year. Beth & I actually planned to have a sister/ babies day and do this on friday by ourselves but it ended up being super cold and windy and I didn't think it was wise for me to do that with charley (and the other kiddos also) while trying to shield them from the cold & the wind. Talk abut a crazy spring we've been having here in texas!!! So we cancelled for friday but rescheduled for sunday in the hopes that it would be a prettier day! And it was!!! So much nicer. Warm, not a cloud in the sky, not at all windy and also the guys got to join us which ended up being a HUGE bonus cause mayfest with 4 little ones and only 2 adults would have been difficult!!! We got there around 4:30 so only a couple of hours till the 7:00 closing time.
Aiden immediately found about a million things he wanted to do, but right off the bat this one was one of the most exciting and intriguing. He wanted to climb this large rock climbing wall. I would have expected this to be intimidating to him but he jumped up there and was excited to do it.
Don't get me wrong- Aiden is by far one of the biggest and strongest 5 year olds I know...
I was not at all worried about his physical ability to do this. I was however very nervous that at any second he was going to realize what he was doing, freak out, start crying and I might have to scale this wall to go get him! I am both thankful and proud that that never happened!!!
He did not reach all the way to the top but he came veryyyyy close. I personally think he looked down at us and realized how far up he was and got nervous. But he never froze, he just let go of the wall like he should have and like we told him and repelled down! I was uber proud!!! Way to go aiden!!!
This day actually ended up being a lot about aiden cause hallie wasn't big enough to do a lot of the things (although she totally would have, my no fear baby girl!!!) so we spent the majority of our coupons and time on watching aiden do various things.
These 2 were (for the most part) troopers. They got cranky at times. Hallie didn;t like being left out of the action. and we lost her bow at one point :(

Watching the duck race
Molly was a super sweet baby. Just along for the ride! Sweet thang!

Towards the end of the night beth used some of her coupons to ride the swings with aiden!
Not sure if she knew how high in the air they would go though, she looked more scared than aiden!

Finally a ride hallie could ride!! The carousel!

And this dragon roller coaster was the last ride of the night, everything was shutting down but we still had coupons so it was fast & furious to see if we could use them all before the park closed.
Shhhh but hallie was actually about an inch too short to ride this ride. We let her go anyways cause aiden was going with her, our fearless girl was really sick of being left out, and well we needed to use up our coupons! :)
Look at those smiles!!! Love it! We had a ton of fun!

After the park closed and we made the trek back to our cars, we went to mama's pizza for a quick dinner. Dad was coming back from the lake and stopped into see all of us and the grand babies!
A group shot after a fun day and some yummy pizza!!! Good times! We'll have to have a repeat next year although I don't think I will try to attempt this event solo in the near future. You need all hands on deck for this crazy fun :)

can't believe the two of them can ride a ride without an adult. It just doesn't seem possible that they are that big.

Love those smiles!
