Catch up
I have pics to share that I need to catch up on. This past weekend was the Texas vs. OU game the red river rivalry game which we won!! yay!! Here are some pics of my longhorn men!
Yeah they wore pants, hats, shirts, etc. Ok so then on sunday there was a batman party at the country club mamaw belongs to and we eat sunday lunch at. So we were gonna stand in line and get aiden's picture taken with batman but decided not to and just took pictures of him with his balloons instead.
So today was another overcast day but felt wonderful outside. It is finally cooling off. I had things I wanted to get done but mamaw had a dr.s appointment and of course ben has to work something like 13 hours today. One of the things I have written on this blog is that I tend to just stay at home with aiden instead of trying to venture out on our own. It is too much of a task to go out with just me and aiden. So this morning I was sitting here feeling down cause I wanted to go do stuff and I wanted to go take aiden's picture in a pumpkin patch and I started thinking you know what...I am going to be a stay at home mom for a while and ben is going to have to work long hours now so I need to get used to doing stuff just aiden and I. So I decided I need to suck up the bad attitude and go do the things I want to do. That was the little pep talk I gave myself! So we got ready (no easy task) and ventured out to look for a pumpkin patch and go shopping. We never did find the pumpkin patch I was looking for so we will be trying again tomorrow (when I have Kimberly with me) but Aiden and I did go shopping. We actually did really well. We went to barnes and Noble which is one of my favorite places ever! I love books, reading books, looking at books, etc. Ben thinks I am such a nerd but it is one of my little pleasures in life. So I took aiden and we roamed the aisles of barnes and noble. We got coffee and read books in the kid section and aiden looked at/chewed on books while I looked at adult books. It was great and Aiden was a perfect little boy. I was feeling quite confident about my mom skills when a man who worked there came up and said..."you know it's getting cooler outside and his feet are probably going to get cold with no shoes and socks" GRRRRRRR ok this makes me very upset because I ALWAYS make aiden wear shoes and socks but he is at this age where as soon as I put them on he tries to figure out how to take them off. I put him in the car with shoes and socks on and by the time we have reached our destination....there are no shoes and socks in sight. As any parent of a baby knows you have to pick your battles and today when he was being such a good boy the battle over putting his shoes and socks back on was not one I cared about fighting. At first when this man said this to me I started to feel like a failure again and then again with my pep talks...I thought ya know what...we both have on clean clothes with absolutely no spit up on them, Aiden has a full tummy and a clean diaper, I have fixed hair, and Aiden is sitting in his stroller being completely content and quiet in a bookstore none the less, and we are out completely on our own! In my book that is a completely succesful outing! So here are a couple pics of our mommy and aiden outing...
I was crouching down and trying to take our own picture so it is not the best and yes I gave him a book to chew on but I bought the book!! haha. Alright now that I have caught up on those things...last night ben and I had held our 4th annual pumpkin carving night. This is basically where we carve pumpkins and make some kind of halloween treat...we have made cupcakes, brownies, and cookies in the past but since we are trying to be healthy and diet we didn't make treats this year. We do have some precious pictures of the pumpkin carving...aiden's first but you will have to wait for my next post. Soon though!!

You are the absolute cutest family ever. I love the pics of Ben and Aiden in their Longhorn outfits.
I am proud of you for getting out with Aiden by yourself. Just remember, the more you do it yourself, the easier it will get. And please don't worry what others think, you are doing great. And you are so right in picking your battles with Aiden, some things are just not worth the trouble. He is healthy, loved and beautiful.
I can't wait for the Halloween pictures. I look forward to those eery year. I wish you were here to take his picture out on the buckboard. We have had several people stop and ask if they could take their children's picture on it.
I am finishing up the canning. I have put up a total of 4 bushels of apples so far.
Dave and I are heading to the Smokies for a day trip tomorrow. The leaves are beautiful here right now. It is supposed to be in the 50's here tomorrow and the low is going to be in the upper 30's so we figured it would be a great day for a drive.
love and miss you all.
Good Grief it can't have been that cold there. You are great mom! You would put something on Aiden's feet if you thought it necessary. You will always find people who think they have the right to but into other people's business. Ignore them. There will be more, unfortunetly. The pictures are great! I remember when My kids were very little and their dad and I moved to California. I was in the same position you are now, except I had no family out there. I was afraid, with 3 kids, to go out by myself, but I got so stir crazy I didn't care if I got lost, or whatever. You'll do great.
Love you, GK
Well, I think the Longhorn pictures are just the cutest! I love his little hat. It's a good thing he looks good in orange. He will need to wear a lot of it in his life.
Looking forward to the orange Pumpkin Patch pictures later!
Poor baby doesn't have a chance. If it's not the longhorns, then it's the cowboys or the Mavericks.
I do love him in the longhorn outfit.
That is the cutest picture of Ben and Aiden.
Good for you for getting out.
I agree with Mary Ellen. The more you do it the easier it will get. ONe because you will get more comfortable and two because it will become his NORM.
Good girl for choosing Barnes & Noble as one of your simple pleasures. Mine too.
