The beginning of August my mamaw took the girls (married) on a girls trip to telluride, CO. I was sooooo excited to go to a place with hopefully some cooler weather and get out of the texas HEAT for a few days. It was also nice to get a small break from the demands of every day mommy-hood although I missed my family lots! Big HUGE shout outs to Ben, my in-laws, and my aunt sherry who kept the kids for me while I was gone. I absolutely would not have been able to go on this trip without the help so it is greatly appreciated! You rock!!! :)
Waiting at DFW to get on the plane!
Touched down in teeny Montrose, CO where you de-plane by stairs. Girls trip 2012 is off to a bang!!!
Beautiful ladies standing outside the gondola in Mountain village town center. The gondola system there is really neat. You ride in the gondola over, up, and down the mountainsides to get from town to town. It's free and very picturesque. We had a rental car but we mostly used the gondola for going between telluride & mountain village. It's prettier & just as fast if not faster.
Mom & Beth on the gondola
Me & Beth
Mamaw & Kim
Just some of the gorgeous-ness you can see from the gondola.
Telluride is very picturesque. A cute cute town for walking, shopping, relaxing. There was a jazz festival going on while we were there so we got to hear some music as we browsed the shops.
Gorgeous!!!
After a long day of traveling, getting settled, driving, and then shopping in telluride, most of us were pretty beat and ready to get some dinner and head back to the condo for some relaxation time.
We went to Rustico an italian restaurant in telluride and sat outside for dinner. It was beautiful & yummy!
I love this pic of my aunt kim. She has 1 glass of wine and she is giddy. Cracks me up!
Me reading my menu, except Kim being the artist turned this into an artsy photo of me.
All of us at dinner.
After dinner we headed back to the condo via gondola ride to relax and play some cards.
Day 2 in Mountain village! We are rested & ready for fun except for that the altitude is still causing us some issues. It is VERY high in mountain village and from headaches, restless sleep, racing hearts, short of breath, we all have some sort of altitude adjustment issues.
1st stop is for lunch at another picturesque outdoor place.
Mom with her very fancy bloody mary. It came with like a meal in it, celery, bacon, shrimp all as garnishes.
Next stop to the spa for oxygen treatments. LOL. This sounds funny & weird but they are actually really helpful in such high altitude.
Nope not in the hospital, at the SPA!!!!
After the spa it was more shopping, coffee, etc. time.
Mom & I enjoying outside coffee time.
Me with coffee. It's a bit weird to have so many pics of myself from this trip. I am usually the designated camera person around my family.
After coffee time, mom deemed it "hat day". You see a lot of people walking around CO in hats. It's a pretty big style there. So mom bought us all hats with the understanding that we had to wear them the rest of the day. Yes even to dinner.
Hats, Hats, Hats
We're not real sure why but all over telluride & mountain village they have the british phone booths. Very cute & adds charm. Playing in the phone booth = Fun times!!!
After shopping, playing, oxygen-izing ourselves, and having a fun filled day we went back to the condo to get ready for dinner. We all got dressed cuter but we were still required to wear the hats.

Kim attempting to get us all in a pic before dinner. She did pretty good. Kim is the master of self portrait taking!
Dinner at Allred's. A very beautiful place to eat on top of a mountain with delicious food!!!
My yumm-o dinner & me with my hat.
Day 3 we started up early and went hiking.
There are some beautiful spots in CO that can only be seen by the hiking trails. I wish I was in better shape to do the harder hiking. We didn't make it up the mountain to the waterfalls. Next time I go to Colorado I will not be pregnant!
After hiking and cleaning up we journeyed into town for some well deserved pizza at a local haunt. It was AHH-MAZE-ING!!!!
Yummy yummy lunch.
For some reason I don't have any pics of this day?? Only the eating. I guess the eating made an impression and the shopping & such did not. Hmmm.
Dinner was at the Chop House and it again was delicious. We ate pretty good stuff while we were there if you can't tell :)
Me & My mom at dinner.
And after dinner it was raining!!! Some of us fared better in the rain than others.
Cracking me up with their head scarves! LOL
Day 4 and our last day of Vacay we decided to take a drive to a neighboring town called Ouray and do more sightseeing/ shopping.
We stopped along the way to take some beautiful pictures. It really is just gorgeous up there. Ralph Lauren has a huge piece of property & part of it you can drive around on so we did that also.
All of us.
Made it to Ouray for lunch at a cute little delicatessen.
Ouray was a cute little town. It's supposedly made to look like a village in Switzerland. It was cutesy and we did some fun shopping before heading back.
On the drive back mamaw REALLLLY wanted us to go further onto Ralph Lauren's property so we could see these Teepee's he keeps for his guests on his land. Apparently they're supposed to be really nice. But there were all these "no trespassing" signs and locked gates. Mamaw really wanted us to go anyways but the rest of us vetoed the idea. We thought probably not a good idea to cross Ralph Lauren.
So Kim got as close as she could and took this picture of Ralph Lauren's teepee's.
After we got back to our condo in mountain village we all had some "on our own time". Beth went for a walk, mamaw took a nap, and Kim, mom, & I went back to telluride for more shopping! We were all getting ready for dinner when mamaw woke up from her nap feeling very bad. She was having oxygen issues and racing heart and just all over not good. We decided to call an ambulance and have her taken down to telluride to be looked at. Unfortunately when we got there they decided she was having a little heart issue along with some oxygen issues and wanted to transport her back to montrose and admit her to the hospital :(
Kim stayed the night in the montrose hospital with mamaw while the rest of us packed up the condo and checked out. Mamaw had an angiogram & 2 nights in the hospital before they released her to fly home but she is safe & healthy back in Fort Worth now. Obviously that wasn't the best end to our girls trip but we are all very grateful that we were in a place that mamaw could get medical help so quickly and that it turned out to not be that bad of an ordeal. Mamaw should just stay closer to sea level :)
Despite the ending. it was a great trip filled with fun memories and relaxing times with the women I love so very much. It was great for me to get that away time and just relax for a bit, I'm very very grateful to everyone who made it possible for me to go!!
