Alright so my goal these two weeks while I was out of school was to get aiden on a schedule that he could get used to and to get him out of our bed. We have somewhat succeeded at both of these. His schedule is eating every 3 hours and the middle of the night feeding varies sometimes he wakes up at 3, 3:30, 4, even 4:30 but he usually gets up for the last time around 8 give or take 30 minutes. He takes his bath before his last feeding at night and he does well only getting up once in the middle of the night and usually sleeping at least 4 hours and sometimes 5.
For everyone who hasn't been here the sleeping situation (before this week) was that Aiden would sleep in his giant pillow that was in the middle of our bed. Thank goodness we have a king size bed. This pillow is similiar to a boppy pillow but it wraps back around itself to make it look like an inner tube. You can go back through his pictures and see it. He has had his picture taken in it many many many times. Anyways our goal was to get him out of our bed and into his bassinet (still in our room) but after many many attempts we realized this just wasn't going to happen. He really hates the bassinet. I think it is because it is too hard and he is used to the comfort of the pillow that envelops him. So I cam eup with the idea to put his play pen together and to put the pillow into the playpen. This way he can still be in his pillow, still in our room, but out of our bed. Well that has worked beautifully. He never missed a beat. Our next goal will be to get him out of the pillow but for right now I dont see the point in having that battle.
Aiden has always liked being held, he loves to snuggle and be close and there are times when he just does NOT want to be put down. He has been doing this more and more with me during the day, he wants me to hold him or if he is going to sleep he wants me to lay next to him. This is especially true when he is fussy. The other day he would just not take a nap no matter what I did and he finally started to doze off with me laying next to him, I thought he was asleep, so I got up...he immediately began to scream, I layed back down thought he went back to sleep, got up, and he started to scream. This cycle lasted for roughly an hour when I came up with the very brilliant plan to trick him into thinking I was still there so I took my shirt off and kept it next to his face so he could still smell me and I got up. He slept for 4 hours with my shirt. You might think this is very weird but I dont care because it worked. Here are some pictures of Aiden in his new sleeping situation and of him napping with my shirt.

WOW... you really are getting the hang of this mommy thing. I don't think any of the things you said sounded odd...you do what works. I you have figured that out. Love all the pics even though I may not respond every time.
love you all
Oh...I did that with BOTH of my kids!! Even now, when Tom is on a trip, Blake will want to sleep with one of "daddy's shirts". What you did is TOTALLY normal!! Glad you thought of doing that. Sorry that I didn't give you that advice...oh well. Good job, Mommy. Love to you all. Sherry
Brilliant idea. I am glad it is working. I especially like the shirt idea. He looks so precious in both of those pictures.
I think as long as you get him out of the pillow before he starts really moving around in his sleep, then all is good. I would worry about him getting stuck in the pillow of DOOM!! LOL!! Glad he is out of your bed so yall can snuggle again. My friends all use their shirts with their babies. It is a great idea.. You ROCK SUPER MOM!!
