Charley 2 Months

Our baby boy is now 2 months old. Hard to believe since time has been going by so quickly. I think maybe the more kids you have the faster it goes?? Seems that way to me anyways, with each baby time has sped up just a little bit more.

Charley went to his 2 month check up last week and so I figured it was time to write an update on our littlest blessing. He is Doing AMAZING!!!! He weighed in at 12 lbs 4 oz and 23 inches long. Meaning he has more than doubled his birth weight and when they adjust his age for prematurity he is well into the 90th percentile. However because he is doing so well they are going to stop adjusting his age for prematurity. Rule of thumb is they can adjust up until a year old but when they put his numbers on the normal- born on time chart- he is still in the 50th percentile. So right around average!!! That's awesome. He is basically caught up from being premature and from here will start to "live up to his genetic potential" is how the Dr. put it. I was so excited to hear how well Charley is doing. Being my preemie baby I still worry a lot about him and his growth- I still feel like I'm trying to prove something when I'm feeding him and I still try to adhere to the NICU rules of making him "take it all and in an allotted time frame". I actually even went in telling the Dr. how he's been so congested and has not been eating as well for me lately and the Dr. asked me to explain what "not as well" meant cause to his point of view he doesn't think Charley could have possibly gained any more weight!! LOL ok then.

I'm mighty proud of his round belly and chubby cheeks! I worked hard for every ounce on him!!

Here are some of the most recent pictures I've taken of Charley so you can see how well he's filled out.

Aiden & Hallie are both so in love with their baby brother and are such good little care takers.

 1st Sunday going to Church
Big brother helper aiden. I love both these boys so much. Aiden always asks to hold Charley and wants to snuggle him, give him his paci, he'd really like to feed him a bottle but I haven't allowed that.

Charley is really starting to interact with us & smile!! I love that he turns his head to hear my voice and smiles at me.
Look at those chubby chubby cheeks!!!

Charley is my only baby to ever like the pacifier. Neither of the other 2 ever did. I'm hoping to wean him off of it before too long though.

Love these big gummy smiles!!! Melts my heart!!!

Charley is starting to even wear some 3 month size clothes! Amazing to me since he started out with preemie clothes being kind of big on him. He's run right through newborn and now is wearing 0-3 and 3 months most days. We've come a long way in a short time my little man!!

We are settling into a routine now with all 3. I'm not embarrassed to admit it has taken me quite awhile to find my groove with all 3. This has by far been the longest it has taken me after having a baby to kind of start to "get it" and there are some days when I really still struggle. 3 kids is a LOT, don't let anybody tell you it's not. Especially as close in age as my 3 are. But we're doing good. The clothes are not always cleaned, neither are the floors, but the kids are always well taken care of, clean & fed. Some days it's really just about those basics and I'm ok with that. There is a lot of love in this house and that's what matters most.

In fact I spent some 1 on 1 time with aiden the other day and I told him how it was gonna be special just Mommy & aiden time and he said "I really love you mom but I'm gonna miss daddy, hallie & baby charley. We're a family." (I am totally not lying- that exact sentence came out of my very thoughtful 4 year old).

Baby Charley- we love you soooooo much. You complete our family perfectly. I'm so proud of what a strong & big boy you are. You started out behind but you are a fighter!!! I don't think I'll ever be able to drive by arlington memorial hospital and not get choked up thinking about the time we spent there. You are such a laid back and happy little baby. You are so good to us that you let us cart you around and never cause a fuss. You love your big brother & sister. You used to be quite a grunter and kept mommy & daddy awake at night with all your noises but you've pretty much outgrown that now. You are for the most part sleeping through the night for us now. You give us 6-7 hour stretches consistently and last night you slept a full 8 hours. You are a complete joy to our family. Your gummy grins and chubby cheeks light up even my hardest days! I love you to pieces lil man and don't ya ever forget it!!- Mommy

Well, it was time for my coke break, so I just took a chance that you might have updated everything. Now, I am all choked up!! :-) So happy that Charley has kicked into overdrive and is doing so well. I love looking at that little round tummy and round face. All that extra TLC has surely paid off. And Aiden's comments about his family are so precious. I am back to teaching 4 and 5 year olds again at church and that has just made me that much more aware of how advanced Aiden is for his age!! So happy that these three kiddos are so healthy, well adjusted, and blessed with two great parents.

So glad Charley is doing so good!! I have to admit though, I didn't recognize Hallie in that picture. Her hair looks so blonde! You are an incredible mom, Jen!! See you all soon!
