Weekend at the Lake

My parents recently purchased a lake house on Possum Kingdom lake and now that we have bought furniture and "moved in" to the lake house, we chose this weekend to christen it as a family!

We drove down on friday evening... and cooked out a fabulous dinner! Followed by a rousing couple of hours playing the "90's game". We went to bed late and woke up to find a rainy cool FALL morning on saturday. We had a big breakfast and spent a lot of time relaxing on the deck watching the rain come down over the lake. By early afternoon the rain had moved off and left a cool and beautiful fall day so we went out on the boat for some fun and TUBING! Jarod, Beth, and ben all had turns tubing. I decided against it in my current state. I haven't expressly been told "no tubing during pregnancy" but my common sense told me it wasn't the best idea. I had a great time watching the others do it though. The facial expressions, the rides, and the wipeouts were all very entertaining to watch! Plus aiden had ZERO fear of the boat this time and LOVED being out on the water. What fun we had!

Getting out onto the water. Aiden kept saying "thank you for BIG boat!"

And he loved sitting in the boat just chillin and taking it all in!
Our fearless captain POPPY!
What a gorgeous view the lake is and it was such a wonderfully cool afternoon.
Jarod was the first out on the tube in his tiny life jacket that was more of a necktie.
It's an intense ride...You better...
HANG ON!!!
Jarod had the best wipe out of the day, never knew a man his size could flip that many times but of course I didn't catch a picture.
Seeing if aiden would want to sit on the tube with jarod and go super slow...he's no dummy, he didn't want to play.
He was content to sit in the BIG BOAT and watch!
Ben's turn!
Intense face.
Trying to stay on...
Wipeout!!
Aiden got a little nervous watching his daddy fall off.
Sitting with daddy after tubing.
Beth's turn!!!
Beth was by far the best at technique! This girl's got S-K-I-L-L-S. She rode like she was fighting the water and what she lacked in strength she more than made up for in technique. I got the least amount of good pictures of beth which was highly disappointing cause she had the BEST facial expressions but when I tried to zoom in on them the pics were blurry...probably cause she was constantly moving while she was wrestling that tube!
VICTORIOUS! She rode into the dock without having wiped out!

After a fun afternoon on the water, we went back to the house for a sandwich lunch, more game playing, and college football watching. For dinner we were planning to do a mexican night and make fajitas BUT a little mishap with Jarod and the boat key led us to change our plans. Jarod and Ben had some fun of their own when the boat key was dropped to the bottom of the lake accidentally and a spare had to be found. It put a little kink in our plans since they were gone much longer than anticipated and not in wonderful moods when they returned. Sooo Beth and I opted to be problem solvers and went up to the mexican/ seafood restaurant (yes that combination scares me!) in Possum kingdom and got fajitas to go instead. The mexican food was surprisingly good and we had a great last night at the lake house.
Aiden was more than ready to EAT!!!

Sunday we got up and had coffee on the deck. Before we visited the local PK community church where we were warmly welcomed and aiden whole heartedly "AMEN-ed" most things that the preacher said until he was taken out about 45 minutes into the service. We had lunch, watched the cowboys, did some more sitting on the back deck, played cards, cleaned up the house and headed back to DFW. It was such a fun weekend. Relaxing but fun! I am excited for many more lake weekends. I think it will be BEAUTIFUL there a little later in the fall when the trees start to change. We can go hiking, ride bikes, and just sit on the back deck and take it all in. I'm really excited for aiden to experience all this!

Jarod and Bella on the steps that lead down to the dock.
BEAUTIFUL view from the house.
The crew as we're getting packed up and ready to head back. Thanks for the great weekend! I'm looking forward to many many many more!

I am looking forward to creating wonderful family memories at the lake house.

We started this past weekend with the Lost Boat Key story. That is one story that will be re-told again and again.

Of course Aiden pushing the chairs and laundry baskets through the house and holding his own with Bella were also precious memories."It's ok Bella! It's ok!"

Wish David did not have to leave early, but look forward to some Fall evenings.

As always.....great pictures!

Ohhhhhhhh - you had perfect weather to christen the Lake house. Even the rainy parts sound relaxing to me. You should have many more Saturdays to enjoy before it gets too cold to go out. Loved the pictures.
