Childbirth class #3

We went to childbirth class on thursday night and we learned some very interesting stuff. The anesthesiologist came and spoke about the epidural and then answered questions from all of us for about an hour. I now know everything and then some about the epidural (and other pain medication offered in childbirth). I am feeling somewhat better about the process, somewhat more freaked out. However; I am fairly confident I can handle this. After we learned about all the drug stuff, we learned about c-sections and how they are at an all time high right now. With something like 35% of first time mothers needing c-sections. All these reasons are various and range from pretty much any kind of health concern. The one that makes me nervous is the size of the baby, they sometimes make you have a c-section because the baby is big and since I think Aiden is going to be a good size, I am nervous they will decide I should have a c-section and I really really really don't want that. I know it is pointless to worry about it now, but that's not keeping it from being a concern. Next week we will get to do the tour of the hospital and I am very excited about that.

Aiden must have been keeping you up last night???? I see you were blogging at 12:17. Or maybe you just had too much information to think about last night. I have no doubt that Aiden will get here just fine (one way or the other.) :-)

I think I was more terrified of the epidural than labor! I knew once the meds were in, labor wouldn't hurt, so I was fine. But the idea of a tube sitting in my spinal cord really freaked me out! But... it was a breeze!! My husband almost passed out, but It was not that bad at all.
