12 weeks

What's happening with baby this week: By now, nearly all of our baby's organs, structures and systems are fully formed. our baby's heart begins pumping several quarts of blood through our baby's body every day. While our baby's brain is not the same size it will be at birth, it does have the same structure. (we got to see it in the ultrasound) our baby's fingers and toes have separated and his/her hair and nails continue to grow. our baby should be approximately 2.5 - 3.5 inches and weighs about 12 - 14 grams, but our baby was already 3 inches at the ultrasound so we are probably closer to 3.5 now. Such a small little thing!

What's happening with mommy this week: my nausea is getting worse, I am feeling naseaus almost every day now, which is strange considering it's supposed to get better the further along ya get.My headaches are getting a slight bit better or maybe I am just getting used to them. I seem to have a dull headache at all times but it gets worse at night. My doctor's advice for the horrible headaches is to lay down more. What a big help she was! So I am still riding it out hoping that next week is going to bring on the relief that the second semester is supposed to bring. Yep one more week till 2nd trimester!! so exciting.

Well, hope you aren't exchanging headaches for nausea. Not a great deal! Now, think about it though, laying down more is better than if the doctor told you jog 5 more miles everyday.

As for the baby... he sure looks bigger in the ultrasound picture. Notice I said "he". Yesterday I said she. Using "he/she" everytime was getting old. Until you know I'll just use whatever strikes my fancy at the moment at the time.
