Saturday my family went to holiday in the park at six flags. We went with unsure expectations since none of us had been there in many many years. It was actually quite fun not sure if that had so much to do with the park itself but with our family. We got there and Jarod rode the tiny train ride in looney tune land with Aiden. It was greatness to see Jarod (who is not the smallest of grown men) get into a train meant for kids under the age of 10! The next stop was some sort of air balloon thing where you get into a tiny "basket" and ride up about 15 feet from the ground and just kinda circle at a slow speed. It is similar to the spinning tea cups because there is a wheel in the center where we could have made it spin around if we wanted to but we had Aiden so we didn't. The funny part about this was that Jarod, Ben, and I all decided to ride this ride with Aiden. Again little cart made for small children and we had 3 grown adults and one baby. We got in there but couldn't get our seat belts fastened. The 15 year old ride operator came over to make sure we were all strapped in and said my favorite line "how did ya'll do this?" We were not buckled but we assured him we weren't going anywhere. After this the newlyweds rode the swings. The dad, myself, ben and jarod decided to ride this rocket type ride. It is similar to the standard boat ride that is in all theme parks in that it is on a pendulum and swings back and forth higher and higher....the difference here is that this ride goes ALL the way over! Then you kinda dangle upside down for a couple seconds. It looked pretty menacing and I was downright scared by the time we actually got on the ride but it was fun. All these rides have been added since the last time I was at six flags so it was exciting! We went to the "all i want for christmas" show and then for the highlight of the evening we went to get in line for the sled hill. It was called "frosty's snow hill" and it was not all that impressive to look at but it was one of the main reasons we had wanted to go to holiday in the park so we could let aiden sled down a hill so we got in the 40 minute line to do it. Aiden was very fussy at this point because we had been out all afternoon and Ben was holding him in line when Aiden just fell asleep on Ben's shoulder. Aiden never does this!! SO that made me know how incredibly pooped he was. We thought surely he would wake up by the time we got to the front of the line (it was a 40 minute line after all) but no he was still SOUND asleep. So we made the decision that it would be in everyone's best interest to NOT wake a cranky baby. SO ben walked down out of the line with aiden, mom decided to also walk down so she could take pictures of us sledding down the hill and then it was me, dad, jarod, and beth. Four aduts (the youngest being me---25) waiting in line to sled down a tiny hill on plastic "sleds". It was actually quite comical. The most hilarious part was watching dad get down on his child size plastic sled. I can't explain it. You needed to be there but jarod, beth, and I laughed until we cried! After that Aiden woke up to watch the light show and then we left and went to eat dinner at an italian restaurant. Dinner was amazing. I think it ranks right up there with the best italian food I have eaten which is saying a lot from me. I spent 5 months living in italy and I am a frequent patron of the Olive garden! All in all it was a GREAT day! Aiden has been spending the last two days making up for that day on his little body. He just does not do well when he doesn't get his normal naps and to bed on time. Last night he went to bed at 8pm and then got up at 10:30 this morning. He went back down for a nap at 1 and slept till 5!!! Yes he needed a 4 hour nap after he slept 14 and a half hours last night! Crazy. I think he must be going through a growth spurt. He goes to the doctor in the morning for his 9 month old check up! We will see how much he has grown. Here is the album I made of all the pictures we took saturday. There are 76 of them and they tell the story better than I just did.
